About the OeWF<\/h1>\n

The Austrian Space Forum is a private research institution in the space sector and a network for astronautics and space research experts, businesses and industry and people interested in space. We cooperate with international research institutions and companies and are in contact with opinion leaders, media and politics. With 250 members from 20+ nations, the Forum focuses on scientific excellence, has been launching, shaping and networking careers and inspiring people since 1998. The OeWF is financed by industry cooperations, private donations and public research funding.<\/p>\n

Our organization…<\/strong><\/p>\n

…conducts cutting-edge interdisciplinary research<\/strong>: We specialize on space sciences, (human) Mars exploration, Earth observation and Astrobiology. Our work is published in peer-reviewed journals, presented at scientific conferences and communicated to both to specialists and the public.<\/p>\n

…provides an interface for the Austrian space sector:<\/strong>\u00a0The forum builds bridges between the space industry, academia, policy institutions, decision makers and opinion leaders and the public. The OeWF is an independent and competent point of contact within the Austrian or European space sector.<\/p>\n

…initiates, supports, and connects careers:<\/strong> We offer student internship, project involvements, supervise graduates at universities, and enable the participation in research and development projects.<\/p>\n

…builds and flies, we explain and inspire:<\/strong>\u00a0Hardware, hands-on projects, work in a laboratory or a workshop, and field experiments are the basis of the forum\u2019s programs. Activities for elementary school students, evening events with audiences (sometimes with hundreds of attendees), flying water rockets, street-science and consulting for space sciences – We love to do hands-on activities.<\/p>\n

What do we do?<\/strong><\/p>\n

The spectrum of activities ranges from classroom lectures to organizing exhibitions that reach tens of thousands of people; from providing professional expertise to the Republic of Austria, fling stratospheric balloons to conducting international (simulated) Mars-Expeditions and developing nano-satellite subsystems:
