Leila Ghasemzadeh lives in Iran and is part of\u00a0the Flight Control Team (FCT). Her tasks during\u00a0the MARS2013 mission are coordinating the\u00a0MEDIAN and HUNVEYOR experiments, as well\u00a0as being a Capsule Communicator (CAPCOM). \u00a0The Capsule Communicator or CAPCOM is\u00a0responsible for coordinating the space-to-ground\u00a0communications.<\/p>\n

Space & MARS2013<\/h2>\n

How did you first get in touch with the topic of space \/ astronomy \/ analog research?<\/strong><\/p>\n

When I was a teenager, I became interested\u00a0in astronomy because it is a limitless science, nothing seems the way you\u00a0see it. Whenever I\u00a0looked at sky, I saw a lot of small spots of light\u00a0that were beautiful and calm but when<\/em><\/em>
\nI learned\u00a0more about them, they became very different,\u00a0more beautiful but not calm and more than what I\u00a0initially saw. Later on, I started to take astronomy\u00a0courses in the Science and Astronomy Center of\u00a0Tehran, 2003.<\/em><\/p>\n

When did you first hear about the Austrian Space Forum (OeWF)?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Through the Space Generation Advisory Council\u00a0\u00a0(SGAC), 2011.<\/em><\/p>\n

How did you learn about the \u201cMARS2013\u201d mission?<\/strong><\/p>\n

From an e-mail from SGAC\u2019s executive director.<\/em><\/p>\n

Why did you choose to participate?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Because of interests in space related activities,\u00a0gaining experience and working with\u00a0professionals.<\/em><\/p>\n

What is your personal goal in this mission?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Learn something new, collaborate with space\u00a0leaders and scientists.<\/em><\/p>\n

Work, Life & Family<\/h2>\n

What I do for a living:<\/strong><\/p>\n

I’m studying Avionics (AVIation electrONICS)\u00a0engineering. My research is about solar winds, space telescopes and miniaturized satellites. I was also teaching high school students, mathematics and physics.<\/em><\/p>\n

This is how I spend my spare time:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Internet surfing, watching movies, reading,\u00a0playing football.<\/em><\/p>\n

The most exciting thing I ever experienced is the\u00a0first time I flew solo with single engine airplane.<\/em><\/p>\n
