So this week (07-11th July 2014), the office got much busier, with the arrival of some faces in the office! It is great having more people around – having lunch together, and getting to chat about our work.<\/p>\n

Here’s a little more about the newest interns:<\/p>\n

Andy Lamb<\/p><\/div>\n

Name:<\/strong> Andy Lamb
\nStudying:<\/strong> Physics (2nd year undergraduate), Imperial College London<\/p>\n

How did you find out about us?<\/strong>
\nThe UK student space society, UKSEDS publishes a magazine (Ecliptic) giving an insight into what’s going on in the space industry and had OeWF’s projects featured in it.<\/p>\n

What will you be working on?<\/strong>
\nI will be working with the Aouda.X suit team on improvements to the life support system, and also participating in the beta testing programme for an in-field display system. I will also be involved in outreach work, letting children in the region try on a mockup of our spacesuit!<\/p>\n

What else have you been doing during your time in Innsbruck?<\/strong>
\nTaking the cable car up the mountains around Innsbruck. Next time I’ll actually use my legs to get up there!<\/p>\n

Viktoria Koch<\/p><\/div>\n

\nStudying:<\/strong> Masters in Aerospace
\nHobbies:<\/strong> Travelling, Space, Volleyball, Hiking<\/p>\n

How did you get involved with OeWF?<\/strong>
\nGernot Gr\u00f6mer from the Austrian Space Forum gave a presentation about Austria and manned missions to Mars. Manned Mars missions were THE topic for my master thesis I was looking for!<\/p>\n

What will you be working on?<\/strong>
\nI will be working on a biomedical data simulation for future field missions. This will be achieved by a simulation tool called V-Hab from my university and telemetry data from previous missions, as the Delta Experiment during MARS2013 in Marocco.<\/p>\n

Highlight of living in Innsbruck?<\/strong>
\nThe mountains, close aircraft approach, and very nice colleagues!<\/p>\n

How did you get involved with OeWF?<\/strong>
\nAbout 4 years ago I met Sebastian Sams at University in Innsbruck, telling me about a planetology course taking place. That’s how I met Gernot, eager to get someone new to work on the AOUDA spacesuit. Ever since I spend a lot of time with all the mechanical and outreach tasks involved.<\/p>\n

What will you be working on?<\/strong>
\nMy focus will be the redesign of the PLSS (Personal Life Support System). Also I’ll do some 3D-drawing, outreach-activities (building water-rockets etc) and working with the team behind the EddyNG (External Data Display – Monitoring and Control).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
