2011
In December 2011, the German counselling firm Techcos (specialised for security analysis) and the Austrian Space Forum have started an unusual project: within the framework of the research project PolAres, the spacesuit Aouda.X gets tested and analysed for risk and safety measures according to the MIL standard 882.
“We have found a very competent Coach in Techcos”
tells Gernot Groemer, head of the Forum,
“or the first time ever, an external team of specialists with experience in air travel and defence industry is going to test whether our spacesuit fulfils safety guidelines. We are looking forward to a objective and enduring examination procedure.”
Michael Klicker, CEO at Techcos and team leader of this safety certificate says:
“Complex systems from the aerospace sector are not new to us, but a project which yields important findings for future missions to Mars is an exciting challenge. We are also using the work of this collaboration to give new employees an introduction into the MIL 882 standard. It really is a win-win situation for everybody involved.”
The first kick-off workshop with Techcos employees and members of the Austrian Space Forum took place at the beginning of December in Munich. It is planned that the analysing process is completed by April 2012, when the next field tests are planned in upper Austria (Dachstein).
