Association purpose (pursuant to § 2 of the association’s statutes): The association, whose activity is not directed at profit, pursues the following purposes: promoting space activities with particular consideration of international, intercultural and interdisciplinary aspects; actively shaping Austrian space activities through educational initiatives and independent research projects; promoting international cooperation in the field of space activities, in particular in connection with the International Space University, the Space Generation Advisory Council and the Mars Society; and promoting media presence of spaceflight and space sciences at both national and international level.

Every time oewf.org is accessed, technical data is automatically collected (browser type, operating system, referrer URL, pages visited, date and time, IP address, internet service provider). This data is used for the technical delivery of the website, system security, and error analysis. It is not combined with other data sources. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in a secure and functional website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

This website uses cookies. Strictly necessary cookies (e.g. to store your cookie preferences) are set without consent. Google Analytics We use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland (for users in the EEA; parent company: Google LLC, USA). Google Analytics sets cookies that allow analysis of website usage. IP addresses are shortened before storage. Data transfers to the USA are based on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. Facebook feed (Meta) We embed a Facebook feed on our website. Provider: Meta Platforms Ireland Limited, 4 Grand Canal Square, Grand Canal Harbour, Dublin 2, Ireland (parent company: Meta Platforms, Inc., USA). Loading this embed may transmit data (e.g. IP address, browser information) to Meta, even if you do not have a Facebook account. Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). Instagram embed (Meta) Similar to the Facebook feed, we embed Instagram content. Provider: also Meta Platforms Ireland Limited (address as above). More information: Meta Privacy Policy.
YouTube embed We embed YouTube videos. Provider: Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland (parent company: Google LLC, USA). Social media links The links to our profiles on Facebook, Instagram, X, YouTube, LinkedIn and Flickr in the website footer are plain links (no plugins) and do not transmit data to the respective providers merely by visiting the page.
Merchandise shop and donations Our merchandise shop is operated externally via Spreadshop; payment providers such as PayPal are integrated there directly, not on oewf.org. The privacy policy of the respective external provider applies.
5. Press newsletter (Mailchimp)
We use Mailchimp to send our press newsletter, a service of The Rocket Science Group LLC d/b/a Mailchimp/Intuit Mailchimp, 675 Ponce de Leon Ave NE, Suite 5000, Atlanta, GA 30308, USA. Sign-up uses the double opt-in procedure. We store your email address as well as the date and time of registration. Mailchimp may process usage data (e.g. open and click rates) in pseudonymized form for its own purposes. Data transfers to the USA are based on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you can withdraw at any time via the unsubscribe link in every newsletter. More information: Mailchimp Privacy Policy.
6. Contact
If you contact us by email or contact form, we process the data you submit to handle your request. We do not pass this data on to third parties. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in responding to your request), or Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR if the request is of a pre-contractual nature.
7. Blog comments
If you comment on a blog post, we store your comment, your chosen name, the date, and, for security purposes, your IP address. This data is only passed on if the comment violates the rights of third parties and disclosure is legally required. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.
8. Applications
Application documents submitted to us electronically (e.g. by email) are processed to carry out the application procedure. If no engagement results, we delete the documents no later than two months after notification of rejection, unless legitimate interests (e.g. evidentiary obligations) require otherwise. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR or your consent.
9. Retention period
We store personal data only for as long as necessary for the respective purpose or as required by statutory retention periods. After that, the data is routinely deleted or restricted.
