Yesterday the World Space Walk took place. Four analogue space suit teams around the world, all coordinated from one mission control and working simultaneously on the same experiments. The Mission was streamed live all over the world and can be watched here. (c) OewF (Anita Heward) 5October 08th 2013
The Mars Desert Research Station is located in the desert of Utah at the San Rafel Swell. Crew members took a great photo of the landscape around the habitat. The rock formation was named Olympus Mons by our team members there, referring to the Mars’ highest mountain with about 22km above the average martian level. The Flight Control Room is the hub of our World Space Week Mission Control Centre. From here, we stay in contact with World Space Week events all over the world via audio and videochat. In this photo you can see our own Reinhard Tlustos video conferencing with a school event in India. (c) OeWF (Clemens Kleinlercher) 3October 06th 2013
Air-lock inside MDRS (Mars Desert Research Station): The Mars Desert Reseach Station is located in the desert of Utah at the San Rafel Swell. It’s operated by the Mars Society. Small crews perfom scientific experiments. For the time of the World Space Week 2013 the Mars Desert Research Station is going to be controlled from the MCC in Innsbruck. (c) OeWF 2October 05th 2013

In the heart of the Mission Control Center (MCC) in Innsbruck, Austria. The so-called Flight Control Room is the main room in the MCC. From here the Capcom talks to the analog astronauts in Utah and Innsbruck, teleconferences with schools and partners from all over the world are coordinated and the Flight Director leads with his assistant (recognizable with shirt & tie) the World Space Week 2013 Mars simulation.
Today is the start of the World Space Week 2013 to celebrate the beginning of the space age 56 years ago. (c) OeWF (Paul Santek)
