2016
From 10-13 September, the annual European Rover Challenge, Europe’s largest space and robotic event, took place at the Exhibition and Congress Centre near Rzeszów in Southern Poland. It once again consisted of two parts: A rover competition where young engineers got to show off their skills in using rovers to perform tasks that real Mars rovers would have to perform, and a Science and Technology Fair for the general public. And just like last year, OeWF members were present to inspire a new generation of explorers.
OeWF member Anna Łosiak organized the OeWF booth and prepared interactive tasks for interested visitors. In addition to a short obstacle course, she had the children conduct an experiment in which they had to do a pH analysis of the soil in order to select the best place to grow potatoes – Mark Watney already proved this was a great food to grow on the red planet ;-) Over the two days we were present, more than 140 children participated in our activities. We are glad that we could engage so many enthusiastic young explorers and share our passion for space exploration with them. Maybe we’ll see some of them back at the Suitlab in a couple of years :-)
