2021
Today the Bridgehead Phase of the AMADEE-20 mission started. The teams in Israel – consisting of analog astronauts and on-site support members – have their hands full with unloading and commissioning all equipment. Also some experiment teams are on site, e.g. from the Mercator Rover or the AMAZE drone.
On “Earth” at the Mission Support Center (MSC) in Innsbruck, the first teams arrived as well. Their job is to set-up their consoles, to assist the field crew in Israel and prepare the flight plan for the next days.
During this preparation week, some media and TV teams are visiting us to report about the mission.
From October 11, the isolation phase will start and with it the high-fidelity Mars simulation. The analog astronauts will then only be allowed to leave the habitat with the Aouda spacesuit. Any communication with Earth will then only be possible with a 10-minute time delay.
