2020
Do you want to take part in the human exploration of our neighbor Mars? We need you for a very important task: naming the Exoscot Rover for our AMADEE-20 mission! It will explore and map interesting locations and is needing your input to find a super-hero name to perform at its best !
We found a perfect fitting name for the rover:
MERCATOR
named after Gerhard Mercator who was the first cartographer on earth and coined the term atlas. Why not using his name for a cartographer on Mars?
Congratulations to our winner Linda Oster!
To enter the competition, complete the following form before the 15th of August 2020. The winner will be selected by our board of specialists and will win a special #AMADEE20 goodie bag & the possibility to meet the Exoscot rover team virtually.
Please bear in mind these guidelines while coming up with your one-of-kind name for our rover:
- The name can be a single word, a short combination of words, or an acronym.
- The name must not have been used for a past, current or proposed space mission, or a component part of a space mission.
- The name must not infringe a third party’s intellectual property rights, including trademarks.
Best of luck, we hope you make it to #simulateMars!
About the Exoscot rover experiment
Exoscot stands for EXO-Mars Science Corporative Training and is an experiment from the Institute for Software Technology, Graz University of Technology, Austria.
Students and researchers at the Technical University of Graz in Austria are accepting the challenge to develop a rover which, in combination with flying robots, will prepare the analog astronauts’ field missions. This grouping will further improve the efficiency and safety of the analog astronauts’ activities. Consequently, the EXOSCOT-team deems the rover’s seamless integration into the mission’s exploration cascade essential.
The contest has ended.
