2015
This year, the Eurovision Song Contest takes place in Austria with the theme “Building Bridges”. You might be asking what this musical competition has in common with Mars research.
Each song contest participant was invited in advance to visit a particular, special place in Austria. At this location, a short intro video was filmed, also known as a “postcard” video. The Swedish participant Måns Zelmerlöw received a ticket to „Mars“ as his postcard… and this is how Mars research entered into the events surrounding the Eurovision Song Contest. The Mars spacesuit that Måns Zelmerlöw was wearing is our Aouda Mars analog spacesuit simulator, and the postcard filming took place on-location at our extraordinary Mars analog missions laboratory in the Austrian Alps!
Sweden’s Måns Zelmerlöw will start as number 13th in the 2nd semi-final on Thursday, May 21st 2015, and if Måns Zelmerlöw makes it to the finale with his song „Hereos“, then you’ll get the chance to watch the “postcard”-film again on Saturday, May 23rd 2015.
Update 24th May 2015
Måns Zelmerlöw has won the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 in Vienna with his song “Hereos”. Congratulations!
